Birth Control

A large number of pregnancies are unplanned.  A woman's reproductive years extend from the early teenage years to her late 40's. Birth control allows couples to postpone pregnancy until they are ready. There are many contraceptive methods to choose from and issues you will want to discuss with your provider regarding the right method for you.  Things to consider include side effects, compliance, age health status and when or if you plan to have children.

As your providers we can teach and guide you in the decision making process.  The discussion will include the pros and cons of each method.
Barrier methods include condoms, spermicides, the sponge, diaphragm, cervical cap and shield. Hormonal methods include birth control pills, the contraceptive patch, vaginal ring, injections and subdermal implant i.e., Implanon®.

Birth Control Methods We Specialize In Are:
Essure® is a type of sterilization that involves hysteroscopy. A hysteroscope attached to a camera is placed in to the uterus. Spring-like devices are placed into each fallopian tube. You now have more choices with an effective, safe and proven method to end child-bearing with Essure®. The best thing about Essure® is since we know that women’s work is NEVER done, there is no hospitalization and if any, only one day of work missed!

Implanon® is a small, thin, rod that is inserted under the skin of the upper arm. It is 99% effective for up to three years.

IUD is a small T-shaped device that is inserted through the cervix and placed in the uterus. There are two types--the hormonal IUD/Mirena® or copper IUD.

Mirena® is an estrogen-free intrauterine contraceptive (IUC) that delivers small amounts of hormone directly to the uterus.

Natural Family Planning
offers an alternaltive method for contraception fo motivated couples.

Tubal sterilization involves procedures that block or cut the fallopian tubes.  Different methods include laparoscopy.  Through a small cut and using cameras, the tubes can be sealed with electrical current.

Finally, no matter what method you choose, make sure you know how it works and the potential side effects.  With so many options consider your life style needs in choosing a suitable method.
