How do I know if Gardasil® vaccine is right for me?  Gardasil® is for young girls and women ages 9 to 26 only. Gardasil® works when given before you have any contact with HPV Types 6,11,16 and 18.

What if I am already infected with HPV? Can I still receive Gardasil® vaccine? If you’ve already been infected with HPV, you may still benefit from Gardasil® because it is unlikely that you have been infected with all four types of the virus covered by the vaccine. However, whether or not you are a suitable candidate should be discussed with your provider.

When should I have my Pap test?  The American Cancer Society recommends that women begin Pap tests within three years after first having vaginal intercourse, but no later than age 21.

Why are Pap tests so important to take on a regular basis? Regular Pap tests can detect cervical cell changes before cancer develops. With early diagnosis cervical cancer can be treated and cured.

Do I have an STD? Understanding the symptoms of STDs and how they are transmitted are the first steps in determining whether you have one. You can call the HIV Hotline at (1-800-342-AIDS) or the STD Hotline at (1-800-227-8922) for more information. Or check out our links page to be directed to recommended sites.

Am I at risk for contracting an STD? The risk of acquiring an STD begins the first time you have sex and the more partners you have, regardless of condom use, the greater your risk. STDs can be transmitted through skin to skin contact and oral sex.

If I have gone through menopause, do I still need a Pap test? If you are age 65 or older, talk with your doctor about whether you still need to get Pap tests. You and your doctor decide what testing schedule is right for you.

What insurance/third party payers do you accept? We accept most major insurance/third party payers.

I have questions regarding my billing statement, who do I call? Kindly contact the office during normal business hours and ask to speak to Teresa or e-mail her at: billing@feminawomenscenter.net.

How can I find out about test results and what is the typical wait for receiving them? If you were seen for an annual visit, you will receive letters in the mail with your Pap Smear test results.  If you were seen for a particular problem, results will be reviewed at your subsequent visit.

I am pregnant, which over the counter medications are safe to take? Download our PDF form here . It is a complete form that lists all medication safe to take depending on your condition.

I am pregnant and I feel like I may be in labor, what should I do? If you are losing fluid, have a backache that moves to the front and/or have had contractions consistent for at least two hours, please go to the hospital immediately.  Call our office (336) 389-9898.

When should my daughter have her first exam? At approximately age 16 or when she becomes sexually active. She also can be seen if she encounters problems with her periods.

I would like to see a female doctor; will my request be granted? Yes.  We do our best to always accommodate such requests.  At times we may have to reschedule your visit if our female provider is called away for delivery at the hospital during the time of your appointment.
